Bruges is the Venice of Belgium. It’s one of those romantic places that feels like you have stepped back in time to a place where people traveled on horse-drawn carriage and architecture maintains its rustic charm.
We visited Bruges on the weekend as a day trip on our way to Antwerp, and absolutely loved it!
We wandered around the city, absolutely fascinated with the cobble stoned roads, medieval architecture, the discreetly placed artwork in the streets, the horse-drawn carriages and musicians that played classical music. We enjoyed Bruges on foot and also via a small boat to take us through the canals and under bridges (costs less than 8 Euros per person). We also delighted in decadent desserts such as hot chocolate made out of pure Belgium chocolate, vanilla cake, red velvet muffins served with a side of Belgium chocolates of course! I’ve selected a number of my favourite photos to showcase Bruges’ charm. I’ll be posting about Antwerp soon but in the meantime, Enjoy!
Do you think Bruge compares to Venice?
