In my previous December post, I gave you a glimpse of the Christmas markets in Prague. I hope that you enjoyed reading about the tasty food and the festive atmosphere.

In this post, I wanted to give you a glimpse of the main tourist attractions in Prague; the Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge.

We walked to the Prague Castle via the Charles Bridge. The Charles Bridge crosses the Vltava River and is one of the best vantage points for seeing the Prague Castle. As winter days are short, we weren’t able to clearly see the Prague Castle from the bridge, but all was not lost as we did see the first speckles of snow land on the many Baroque statues of the Charles Bridge.

The Prague Castle is known as the largest Castle in the world and was previously home to the Kings of Bohemia and their court. What I love about the Prague Castle is that it contains everything that I love about a Castle; beautiful churches, amazing architecture and immaculate state rooms. During the month of December, the Prague Castle also features nativity scenes made out of straw and giant Christmas trees decorated with lights and ornaments. Another great reason to visit in December!

We spent a weekend in Prague in December 2012 and it was just the perfect amount of time to see the main tourist attractions. Half a day was spent at the Prague Castle and the remaining time was spent visiting Christmas markets and Old Town. Do you have any other suggestions for Prague? Comment below and let me know!
