Rome is one of the most visited cities in Europe for a reason and it is because there is nothing quite like it. Rome is the eternal city, the city of Romance and the city that holds so much history.

Rome has a special place in my heart because it was the first city that I visited during my honeymoon and the first city I ever visited in Europe! I had to take my parents there too and they felt just as in love with Rome as I did. Below, I give you a tour of some of my favourite places to visit in Rome. Let me know which one is your favourite!

1. The Colosseum

The Colosseum is one of those landmarks that represents Rome. The Colosseum is the largest amphitheatre in the world and is considered a architectural work of art.

When we walked into the Colosseum, we could imagine the gladiators being lead into the stadium ready to fight with the animals that were later released from their cages. Back then, this was sport and thousands of people would attend to watch these bloody battles.

These days, the Colosseum is now a partially preserved structure that is marvelled at by people from around the world.

2. The Spanish Steps

We didn’t spend much time at the Spanish Steps but it’s one of my favourite places because of the vibrant atmosphere. People were sitting around people watching or catching some sun shine.

3. The Pantheon

Pantheon2

My parents and I were lucky enough to be at The Pantheon when they were preparing for mass. We sat and waited for the mass to begin while the crowd slowly disappeared.

It was magical to watch the crowded and often loud Pantheon become absolutely silent. It was wonderful to sit in the ancient walls of the Pantheon with only 40 people and 3 priests. The mass was delivered in Italian but since we are Catholic, we knew the prompts to pray and stand. Mum said that she was so happy to share this moment with dad and I. It was one of my favourite memories.

4. The Trevi Fountain

The Trevi Fountain is one of my favourite spots in Rome. We visited the Trevi Fountain both during the day time and at night. It never ceased to impress me and we often spent at least an hour enjoying the atmosphere. My parents  also really enjoyed making a wish and throwing a coin into the fountain.
