One of the benefits of living in Sydney is that there are so many places to visit and each area is different.
Australia is a diverse melting pot of cultures and destinations waiting to be discovered.
I plan to kick off a series of blog posts called “local lookout” which will show you many aspects of Sydney that I have explored and loved. It’s a chance for me to be a tourist in my own city but also a great way to show the diversity that exists in this beautiful city. Maroubra Beach is hidden gem. Yesterday, we were at a barbecue and after sitting around chatting and enjoying food, our wonderful hosts asked us if we wanted to check out the nearby beach. It was 5pm and the sun was still brightly shining, so we agreed to take a quick walk to the beach. When we reached the beach, I was surprised to see how busy it was and so late in the afternoon. There were surfers, swimmers and sun bathers enjoying the cool sea breeze and even cooler waters. We spread out the picnic blanket and enjoyed the atmosphere. Some of us had a nap by the sand while others had a dip in the water. Baby C was lucky enough to have someone take her into the water so she could feel the waves brush against her tiny feet. It felt like we were on a mini holiday! Total bliss! The reason why this is a gem for me is that I have never really explored the eastern suburbs. I use to think that beaches were better in the south coast, but I’m happy to discover that Australian beaches are just amazing everywhere! Where is your favourite beach? Comment below and tell me why. If you know of any beaches in Australia that I should visit, let me know too! Have a great weekend! travelling the world (and exploring Sydney) with a child?
